The Mommy Makeover
While we are not a fan of the term "Mommy Makeover", we can't seem to come up with another way to describe combining cosmetic surgery procedures to help our patients reclaim their bodies after childbirth. Basically, a "mommy makeover" is a combination of an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) with a breast augmentation, breast lift or breast reduction. Sometimes liposuction is included with the surgery if there are troublesome spots that diet and exercise just can’t take care of.
And while we haven’t been able to come up with a better name for it – Dr. Griffin's results with Mommy Makeovers are impressive: there are many "hot mamas" walking around out there thanks to Dr. G. It is one of his favorite procedures and he loves seeing how it gives women back some of the confidence lost from one of the most important and gratifying experiences of their lives. In his own words: "I feel great knowing that I am able to help a woman reclaim her body and get her sense of self back".
Any woman who has been through it, including most of our staff, knows that changes take place as a result of pregnancies. And, it's no secret that the breasts and abdomen are affected more than any other area. Sometimes these changes are minimal, but for many women they can be profound. Take for instance, a small framed woman who has had twins, or someone who had a large amount of weight gain. Their shape will be totally changed by the pregnancy. Since most of these women are still quite young, it's understandable that they would want to get their figure back.
This forty year old woman is the mother of three children who leads a healthy lifestyle and exercises regularly. Despite taking great care of herself, her pregnancies have left her with loose skin on her tummy and saggy breasts. She had a mastopexy with augmentation and an abdominoplasty, and her post-pregnancy 'Mommy Body' was brought back to life.
